This limited edition includes the book, Parimental, and props for three routines from the book, plus a bonus finale to one of the routines that is not included in the book. Parimental spotlights Martin Gardner’s Parity Principle, a simple principle that will allow the performer to control or predict a participant’s actions.
“Colorology”
PHASE ONE: Nine different colored discs are arranged in a three-by-three grid. The performer also displays an envelope and explains that colors influence people. The participant is asked to study the colors and then place a finger onto one of the colored discs. It’s a free choice. Then, the participant moves a set number of times from color to color. That number is also a free choice. One folded billet is then dumped out of the envelope and written on it is the name of the color the participant ended on.
PHASE TWO: The performer says that this was just a warm-up. Based on the decisions the participant made in the first phase, the performer now arranges the colors differently. This new color arrangement is designed to control the participant as they move around the grid. A folded piece of paper is introduced. On the paper are instructions. The participant chooses a color and puts their finger on it. A number is freely chosen and the participant moves their finger around the grid. The instructions seem to know exactly where the participant will be as it gives instructions to remove colored chips the participant is not on. This continues until eight chips have been removed. The instructions accurately name which chip is left, plus there is a kicker ending that explains how all the participant’s decisions were influenced.
(Note: Both phases can be found in Parimental. The first phase is “Exhibits of the Mind” using colored chips and the second phase is “Colors of the Mind” with a new kicker ending not included in the book. The two phases can be performed separately.)
“Royalties of the Mind”
A participant can use their own deck and remove nine cards of their choice. They are arranged in a three-by-three grid. The performer then displays a set of instructional cue cards, which the participant follows by choosing one card and then moving around the card as per the instructions. With every one, the cue cards seem to know exactly which card the participant is on as it requests playing cards the participant is not on to be removed. The final instructional cue cards not only name the position of the last one left, but also names the playing card!
These routines can be done close-up, walkaround, and over the Internet. No sleights are required.

Though I have been advised that I could sell Parimental for well over $100, I’d prefer to keep the price at $59.97. The props took more time and expense than I anticipated. Though I haven’t officially priced them, I can say that the minimum I’d sell the “Colorology” package for is $49.97 and “Royalties of the Mind” for $39.97. For now, that will be the tentative prices for them if any remain after the sales date. That means the total package would cost $149.87. However, I’m charging $124.97 for everything.
As a reminder, I’ve only made 100 sets to sell and once they are gone (or May 15 has passed), they are gone. So, if you’re interested, don’t delay.

Learn to control your participants’ thought and predict their actions using the Parity Principle – an underrated, very simple principle published by Martin Gardner in Scientific American in 1960. This versatile principle can be used impromptu or for prepared routines. It can be adapted to use in any type of venue, including online performances.
The basic routine involves setting up a series of nine items in a three-by-three grid. The participant has a free choice of starting on any object. A number is freely chosen and the participant moves to the left, right, up or down, back and forth. The performer now shows a prediction that shows which objects the participant is not on, and they are removed. This continues until eight of the items are removed and the prediction reveals the item ended up on. These nine items can be anything you like and this book is filled with a variety of ideas to spark your creativity.
