The Blurb

The Painting is a brand new and KILLER release from Dead Rebel Productions!

This is an off-beat and super deceptive mentalism / bizarre routine where your spectators’ free choices are influenced by a mysterious painting and poem.

The handling is self-working, impossibly clean and has no rough and smooth, no sleights or moves, and no math’s.

Present it as a darker piece with Simon’s back story from the trailer, or more straight up as an example of how easily we can be influenced by art and literature.

The set includes the picture cards housed in a custom card box, together with two prints which feature the birds of paradise on one side, and the poem on the other, all stored in a larger, handcrafted storage box, and features the full explanation, together with bonus handlings, taught by Liam Montier.

Jheff's Guide

WHAT IT IS:
Effect with Props

HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE AD COPY IS:
It refers to Simon Duggan by his first name, but doesn’t mention that he created this effect. It also is vague in regard to the plot. A painting and a poem are shown. The painting is of two birds of paradise and the poem is a rather macabre poem about finding the truth within images. A deck of cards with paintings on them are introduced, many are creepy looking. All are shown to be different. The participant selects one face-down. And then there is a surprise reveal within the painting and poem that proves the chosen card influenced their choice. I won’t spoil the surprise reveals, but I will mention that the reveal is a painting of a human skull.

SET-UP AND RE-SET:
The workings of the routine are such that the re-set involves just picking up the cards.

ANGLES:
None. This can be done surrounded.

SUITABLE VENUES:
Close-up, Internet

JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
There’s nothing new in terms of method, and the macabre theme, involving a human skull, may not be for everyone. But, if this is something that fits your style, this elegantly produced and Steampunked theme routine is a strong one.
