The Blurb
Steve Cook strikes again with his take on the classic ‘Combination Lock’ routine, and this is a KILLER – watch the demo to see what we mean!
• EXAMINABLE CARDS (or use your own business cards!)
• NO MAGICIANS CHOICE OR DODGY WORDING!
• NO MULTIPLE OUTS OR DIFFERENT OUTCOMES!
• NO RESET!
• NO GAFFS, OR GIMMICKS!
This is THE only version of the combination lock to do, and even better, it’s ZOOM FRIENDLY! You can perform the entire routine over a video chat – showing a lock that has your ring stuck on it, and the spectator makes all the choices to end up at the combination that opens the lock!
Package includes…
The combination lock, ten specially printed number cards, plastic card case, cloth bag to hold all the props and full explanation of the routine via download link.

WHAT IT IS:
Effect with Props
HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE BLURB IS:
Apparently, the person who wrote the blurb does not know what a multiple out is. One phase certainly uses that. Also, “NO MAGICIANS CHOICE” implies that this routine is better for not using it. I disagree. There is a selection phase that uses a procedure that may be fine for mental magicians. However, for mentalists, verbal manipulation would be much better. Other techniques could be used, too.
SET-UP AND RE-SET:
The number cards need to be put in a specific order, but that can be done in seconds and in front of participants.
SUITABLE VENUES:
Close-up, Parlour, Walkaround, Internet
JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
Because of the use of the cards, I certainly won’t argue with those who will feel that this effect is somewhat redundant and overprocedural in comparison to what else is out there in terms of combination lock routines. Still, on its own merits, it works and this is a simple, elegant effect that uses nothing gimmicked or unexaminable, and provides a clean, easy-to-follow plot.
