The Blurb

From the Underground Collective (Jamie Badman and Colin Miller), the creators of Heirloom, one of the best-selling tricks of the last decade, comes a miracle that elevates things to a whole new level. Legacy is the kind of trick we search for as magicians. It’s self-contained, can be carried with you at all times, and it automatically performs an astounding trick that also let’s you give a compelling presentation. They get to know YOU and YOUR MAGIC during the effect.

The effect is simple: a story of your grandfather’s greatest magic trick, performed using his original props. You remove a poker hand from his old wallet and have someone think of one of the cards in the hand. You then show that even from the grave, your grandfather knew exactly which one the participant freely picked.

Legacy is an easy to perform, completely sleight-free routine that comes with a custom-made soft-leather wallet, pre-aged props and a collection of strong routines to suit a variety of styles. This is a blockbuster effect that you will be proud to carry with you.

Includes custom leather wallet and specially printed gimmicks.

My Comments

"[E]levates things to a whole new level"? HEIRLOOM, which is a version of Kenton Knepper's KOLOSSAL KILLER, predicts one out of 52 cards. I'm not sure how predicting one out of 5, instead of one out of 52, is taking this to a whole new level, unless, of course, the methodology was new and unique. Which it isn't.

Let me get right to the point of this. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this effect, but there's also absolutely nothing new here, either. Think Andy Nyman's KILLER ELITE only with a poker hand and you should be able to deduce this very basic Modus Operandi (emphasis on the M and O).

The package includes a pocket-sized Himber wallet, the photographs, and the high quality, aged-looking playing cards. And I was refreshingly surprised to see that this effect does NOT have an instructional DVD, but three pages of printed instructions with illustrations.

Yes, this does deal with playing cards and I know that some people will pass on this simply because of that. It is easy to do, it does re-set instantly, and there are no angle problems. So long as you know what you're getting, if you know you can use it, then this is worth purchasing.
