Jheff's Guide
WHAT IT IS:
Gimmick with routine(s) included
HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE AD COPY IS:
The claim that the “spectator can name any letter, symbol, card, or thought” is not entirely accurate. The performer must control the participant’s decision. I think you know what I mean. Otherwise, what you are buying is a gimmick and the basic idea is fairly described.
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED THAT YOU NEED OR NEED TO KNOW:
You will need a plate, a napkin, and wine (or any dark liquid). Also, the substance used in the gimmick is waxy rather than a powder or a liquid. It is included in the package, but when you need to obtain a refill, it is commonly found in most convenience stores.
SETUP AND RESET:
You do have to prepare the gimmick, but it only takes a few minutes. The gimmick will then last for quite a number of performances before you need to refill it.
ANGLES:
The dirty work is done while wiping the plate, so there are no angle issues with the gimmick. What you use to learn the thought-of information may have angles, but that has nothing to do with this product.
SUITABLE VENUES:
Close-up, Parlor, Internet
JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
This is an easy‑to‑do version of the ashes‑on‑the‑arm effect that uses a plate and wine, which makes it very unique. The considerations are that you need a plate, a wine glass, a napkin, and wine, which makes it impractical for walkaround but perfect for séance work, impromptu work at a dinner table, a formal close‑up set, or internet performances. The method uses a readily available waxy substance in a small container with a magnetic feature, and the dirty work is done as you wipe the plate with the napkin. This is very niche‑y and not for everyone, but if you perform séances or want something unique in a formal close‑up set or for internet performances, this should interest you.
