HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE AD COPY IS:
The ad is somewhat of a mess as it needs edited, but it does accurately present the effect. It does push the truth just a bit. Let’s just say that there is no sleight-of-hand, and the participant can hold the envelope the entire time, but the envelope and the card cannot be handled or examined. Also, the basic idea is not new, and I explored it in detail in my book, HEADS I WIN, TAILS YOU LOSE. The ad does not mention that the card is made to look like an antique card and also has a few special features that aren’t necessary but help ensure the routine works effectively every time.
SET-UP AND RE-SET:
The set-up and re-set is to put the card in, or back into, the envelope.
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED THAT YOU NEED OR NEED TO KNOW:
Even though the outcome of the predicted card is always true, it doesn’t necessarily always play out the same way. Experienced mentalists know what I’m talking about.

Though this contains no new gimmicks or principles, Gabriel Werlen has crafted a solid, imaginative script for a routine that’s familiar to most mentalists who use playing cards. If you favor routines that have strong stories and use a specially made but organic-looking item or two, then this should be something of interest to you.

A story is told of a relative who made large bets on the identity of a random face-down card. The participant attempts to name this card and has an absolutely free choice. When the envelope is opened and the card inside shown, it is revealed that the participant had successfully put themselves in the shoes of the relative. There is more to the story, but since that is what you are buying, I’ll say no more about it. Also, even though the outcome of the predicted card is always true, it doesn’t necessarily always play out the same way. Experienced mentalists know what I’m talking about.
