The Blurb

Hallpass is an ingenious device by Julio Montoro and James Anthony that lets you produce signed cards and predictions from within an ID holder in a clean and unsuspicious fashion.

Imagine at the end of your favorite signed card routine you point to a playing card that has been in full view from the very start encased inside your plastic Hallpass holder.

You slowly remove this card to reveal it’s THEIR SIGNED CARD!

Hallpass also works with predictions, billets and much more, plus comes with modifications for USA, UK and EU currency.

BONUS 1: We’ve included everything you’ll need to make up multiple gimmicks which can be switched in real time.

BONUS 2: The blackout module – a twist on the original routine allowing you to perform some mind blowing visuals and additional handlings.

Jheff's Guide

WHAT IT IS:
Gimmick with routine(s) included

HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE BLURB IS:
It’s mostly accurate. The original method involved a technique requiring a specific background, but they added a new method which makes it much more practical and doesn’t require that at all. The blurb alludes to the bonus “blackout module” but it’s sort of the other way around from what I say. The non-“blackout” explanation is the last-minute added bonus.

SET-UP AND RE-SET:
The reset takes seconds. There is a one-time preparation of the gimmick that involves cutting and taping.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED THAT YOU NEED OR NEED TO KNOW:
The instructional video skews towards magic presentations, so mentalists who are inexperienced may not understand how to apply this to classic mentalism routines. Also, the creators mentioned the use of the mercury card fold, which they do not teach on the instructional video, but recommend you seek out instructions on YouTube. That is completely unprofessional and lazy to recommend learning magic from such a source as YouTube. They should be teaching it themselves.

SUITABLE VENUES:
Close-up, Parlour, Walkaround, Internet

JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
This is yet another card to impossible location, but I find the I.D. holder idea to be significantly better because it’s much more organic than most. Unfortunately for mentalists, the instructional item is skewed more towards magic presentations and doesn’t provide enough information for mentalism applications. Novice mentalists may not be able to perform mentalism routines right away, but experienced mentalists will find this a solid and effective gimmick.
