Do you love mentalism watch routines? This is simply one of the best.
- No assistants required.
- No electronic devices.
- No stooges.
This relies on a truly well-kept, ancient secret.
The Effect:
You hand a small bag to a spectator and invite them to stop your show at any moment by simply saying, “Now is the time.” Whenever they decide to do so, you ask them to remove a watch from the bag. They examine it and confirm that it is completely broken-the hands are stopped dead. The magician notes the exact time frozen on the watch and compares it to the current, actual time. Let’s assume the difference is exactly 20 minutes. The spectator then reaches into the bag and pulls out a written prediction. Incredibly, the paper perfectly predicts that exact time difference!
The time difference between the current time and the exact moment your spectator says “Now is the time” will always match your prediction.
100% foolproof. You won’t believe it, but it’s real.

WHAT IT IS:
Effect with Props
HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE AD COPY IS:
Unfortunately, what’s missing is the mention that this is an authorized version of a Ted Karmilovich routine that is featured in the recently published book, THE KARMILOVICH COLLECTION, which I heralded as one of the best mentalism products of 2025. The book is available from many dealers, though at the time of this writing, Stevens Magic offers a bonus Neil Scryer book if you buy it through them.
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED THAT YOU NEED OR NEED TO KNOW:
Only the watch is included. It should also be noted that this is an analog watch. And, of course, you’ll need to provide an envelope, prediction papers, and/or anything else you may need besides the watch for your specific routine.
SETUP AND RESET:
The watch must be set to match your prediction, and, of course, the prediction needs to be prepared. Both of these take little time to do.
ANGLES:
None.
SUITABLE VENUES:
Close-up, Parlor, Stage, Walkaround, Internet
JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
This simple yet bold plot is very strong, and now Tango Magic has produced the necessary gimmick for you rather than having you make one yourself. The watch is entirely self‑contained, requires no sleights or memorization, and if this effect interests you, it is well worth investing in. Though I’m not a big fan of giving an audience member control over my show, many performers cherish such effects and the reactions they elicit, so I leave it up to you to decide whether this is a good investment for your style or persona.
