The Ad Copy
749 Note is a mentalism system designed to help you quickly identify the target paper ball. Created by K. Pen, it keeps a low-profile, understated appearance. To the audience, it looks like an ordinary notepad, while quietly adding flexibility to your routines.
At a gathering with friends, ask one participant to write something on a slip of paper. Then invite 2 to 4 more participants to write different things on their own slips to create confusion. Crumple all five slips into paper balls and shuffle them thoroughly. Even under everyone’s watchful eyes, you can accurately identify the paper ball written by the first participant.
749 Note also pairs well with other methods. Whether you work with peeks, cold reading, or forces, it can fit naturally into your routine.
From the audience’s perspective, the writing is random and the shuffling is casual, with no obvious trace of method. When it is not in use for performance, it simply looks like an ordinary notepad for everyday notes and messages. Low-key and unobtrusive, it blends easily into daily life and lets you create an impromptu magic moment whenever an opportunity appears.

HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE AD COPY IS:
It’s accurate enough.
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED THAT YOU NEED OR NEED TO KNOW:
The ad copy says that “749 Note also pairs well with other methods. Whether you work with peeks, cold reading, or forces, it can fit naturally into your routine.” However, the instructional video only covers the routine described in the ad copy. You’ll have to be creative to figure out how to fit into your routines.
SETUP AND RESET:
The pad itself instantly resets, but if you’re using this for a routine that involves other items, there may be a setup and reset involved with those.
ANGLES:
None.
SUITABLE VENUES:

JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
These pads are much more versatile than the ad copy implies, and the main routine is similar to a Kurotsuke‑style routine in which the performer can correctly reveal which paper ball contains the chosen thought. The notepad looks ordinary, can be freely examined and handled, and the performer can easily feel the difference once they know what they’re feeling for. This is a consumable item, and you must use five sheets every time you perform, but these are simply features of how the pads are made and need to be considered. Despite normally disliking products that use consumables you can’t replace yourself, this ingenious and versatile pad is something that I must respect and recommend.
