The Blurb
Perfect B’ Wave is my rendition of the well-known Max Maven trick called B’wave. This trick has been part of my repertoire for more than 10 years, and today, I decided to share it with the world so that more magicians can use this idea.
Perfect B’ wave has all the elements in full view of the audience, is easy to do, and requires no forcing and instant reset.
- No forcing.
- No additional elements required.
- No changes.
- Everything in full view of the spectators.
- Strong magic with no sleight required.
Jheff's Guide
WHAT IT IS:
Effect with Props
HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE AD COPY IS:
For those unfamiliar with Max Maven’s B’WAVE, the ad copy is very confusing as it really doesn’t summarize the effect at all. The PERFECT WAVE is exactly the same. A participant names the suit of a particular card value, then the performer reveals that it is the only face-up card, it is the only one with a different colored back, and the three other cards are blank-faced. The difference with this version is that, with Max’s version, there is a well-known technique used when the participant is making the suit choice and, with this one, it is not necessary.
SET-UP AND RE-SET:
The re-set involves putting the odd-backed card back in the packet.
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED THAT YOU NEED OR NEED TO KNOW:
There are no sleights, but there is an additional method involved that will work best after practicing each reveal. It’s more of a knack that needs to be learned to make sure that the display is smooth and that you don’t accidentally reveal anything that will give it away.
SUITABLE VENUES:
Close-up, Walkaround, Internet
JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
Whether or not this clever variation of Max Maven’s classic B’WAVE is better than the original is a matter of personal style and taste. It definitely will fool those who know the original, but the impact with laymen is exactly the same. If you’re a fan of B’WAVE and are interested in a version that eliminates that well-known technique, then it’s worth checking out.
