Jheff's Guide

WHAT IT IS:
Effect with Props

HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE BLURB IS:
There’s really no description of what the routine is.  Six plastic cards with chess pieces are shown.  The performer lays them out, turns around, and gives instructions to the participant.  Five of the cards are eliminated during this process and the performer correctly names the one that is left.

SUITABLE VENUES:
Close-up, Walkaround

JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
Though the routine can be very powerful and is based on solid, older principles, I just don’t get the need to use plastic cards with chess pieces on them.  A variation using chess pieces is included, but the pieces are not used as chess pieces so it just doesn’t seem like an organic match to me.  Still, I know it can be very effective so if using the plastic cards doesn’t bother you and the effect appeals to you, then this is certainly worth looking into.
