The Blurb

With “Hit,” you’re able to perform an unforgettable, painstakingly clear demonstration of persuasion–and mind control. From a shuffled pack you remove just four cards and offer to play a few rounds of Blackjack with a participant. Despite letting her choose her cards every time, you, the performer, always prevail. Even when cards are exchanged and shown to the spectator, you are always left with the winning hand.

In the first phase, two hands of Blackjack are created by kept face down. The spectator chooses which hands they wants… and you win. In the second phase, a card of each Blackjack hand is shown and still…you are left with the winning hand. In the third phase all the cards are shown except one… and still you win. In the last phase ALL the cards are shown, and still you mysteriously win.

What makes “Hit” a spectacular addition to your mentalism or magic repertoire is that this is not a card trick about cards. It’s about CHOICES, and makes an ideal forum to interact in a meaningful way with your spectator. This trick is entirely self-working, and can be learned in minutes. It comes with all of the required gimmicked cards, and more than an hour of video instruction teaching every facet of the routine.

Jheff's Guide

WHAT IT IS:
Gimmick with routine(s) included on the instantly viewable/downloadable video

HOW ACCURATE OR COMPLETE THE BLURB IS:
It’s accurate as to the routine, but does not mention what you get, or don’t get, in the packaging. (See below) If you consider that you’re really just purchasing the instructional video and that the special cards are a bonus, then this is a very good investment.

SET-UP AND RE-SET:
The set-up and re-set involves putting about a dozen cards in order and can be done in front of the audience.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED THAT YOU NEED OR NEED TO KNOW:
Unfortunately, all you get are the four special cards that you need to perform. You need to provide your own matching deck. And the cards are red-backed Phoenix cards. More importantly, on the video, Luke actually uses a deck that he made himself and that deck has a few features that the well-made, manufactured special cards do not. It’s not hard to make as you just need a regular deck of cards, some cutting, some gluing, and about thirty minutes or so. However, if you’re not good with arts or crafts, the effect certainly still works with the included special cards, so long as you obtain the matching deck.

SUITABLE VENUES:
Close-up, Parlour, Stage, Walkaround, Internet

JHEFF’S JUDGMENT:
Luke Jermay has re-imagined the classic ten-card poker deal plot and applied it to the game of Blackjack, which is far easier for most to follow. this is certainly one of Luke’s better commercial releases, and you will be quite pleased with your investment in this if you simply consider that you’re buying an instructional video with a bonus and not a ready-to-perform product.
